Fried Cauliflower

Cauliflower
Peanut Oil (1/2 - 1 inch in cast iron pan or use your favorite deep frying method)

1 cup white flower
2Tbs good fresh Hungarian Paprika
1 Tbs ground pepper
1-2 Tbs garlic powder
little bit of salt
Couple shakes Garam Masala
(change spices as you will)
1 egg
1 bottle beer, warm and flat is best

Beer Batter:
Mix dry ingredients in bowl, stir in egg, stir in beer a little at a time until desired thickness. Batter should be on the thin side so coating is not too thick.

Cut cauliflower up into pieces, 2-3 bites per piece, try to cut so there is as much flat surface as possible (frys easier in shallow oil). Dip in beer batter and fry in hot oil. Only takes a few minutes per side, when golden brown it is done. Drain on paper towel.

Good hot though the "traditional" way to eat it is cold dipped in mayonnaise. Mmmmm.

Thanks to Linka Newton for showing me this many years ago. I am sure this is not the exact recipe. Made for the first time in decades on April 17, 2008 using beer batter recipe from fried fish.
